This policy explains how Terrabase Ltd uses cookies and similar technologies on www.terrabase.co.uk. It should be read alongside our Privacy policy.

1 What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include local storage (used by your browser to remember settings) and third-party content such as embedded videos.
Under UK law (PECR and UK GDPR), we must tell you what we use and, for non-essential items, obtain your consent before they are set or activated.
2 How we ask for your consent
When you first visit our site, a notice offers three choices:
- No optional storage — we remember your choice only for the current browser session (session storage). We do not save your theme between visits, and embedded YouTube videos stay disabled.
- Save preferences — we store your cookie choice and light/dark theme preference in your browser (local storage) between visits. Embedded YouTube videos stay disabled unless you load an individual video or accept all cookies.
- Accept all — saved preferences plus embedded YouTube players on blog articles.
Your choice is stored in your browser as terrabase-cookie-consent (session storage for “No optional storage”, otherwise local storage). You can change your mind at any time by clearing site data for terrabase.co.uk in your browser settings, or by using the buttons below.
3 Cookies and storage we use
3.1 Strictly necessary
These are required for basic site operation. We do not ask for consent before using them.

3.3 Optional third-party content (with your consent)
We only enable these if you choose Accept all or click Load video on an embedded article.

We do not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies on this marketing website. We do record anonymised page visits on our own servers to understand which content is helpful. That processing does not rely on analytics cookies.
4 Managing cookies in your browser
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Guidance is available from your browser vendor (for example Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge).
If you block all storage, the site will still work, but your theme and cookie preferences will not be remembered, and embedded videos will not play unless you accept optional content.
5 Changes and contact
We may update this policy when our website changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change accordingly.
